Mat Franco: Magic Reinvented Nightly

Our Review

It’s pretty obvious that Las Vegas holds some kind of magnetic draw for the most famous magicians around the world. Some of the biggest names in magic, including Siegfried and Roy, Lance Burton, Penn and Teller, Mark Wilson and more, have graced Las Vegas stages. With so much talent to live up to, it’s not an easy feat for this generation of magicians to be able to surprise and genuinely entertain audience members. When Mat Franco won the ninth season of America’s Got Talent, he became the first and only magician to win the televised talent show, thus earning himself a spot amongst the greats.

While watching him perform at the LINQ, I felt as if Mat was taking me on a journey through magic. His show felt extremely personal and thoughtful as he told his life story by using different illusions. Mat’s impressive capability to create a narrative was especially evident during his last magic trick of the night, in which he successfully incorporated different illusions used throughout the entire show. I enjoyed Mat’s effortless sense of humor and the fact that doesn’t have to use over-the-top techniques in order to impress the audience.

After watching him in action, it’s safe to say that even if you’re not a fan of magic, you’ll immediately become a fan of Mat Franco. Not only does he have the ability to wow audiences with his mind-blowing illusions, but he also has a playful and down-to-earth personality that allows him to connect with people on an intimate level. Mat’s passion for magic, constant interaction with the crowd and storytelling technique kept me guessing throughout the night and made me feel like a kid again. Even though I’ve already watched his show once, I would gladly go back to watch it again because his shows are always different. It’s clear that Mat makes an effort to push his boundaries by reimagining magic every night and I’m excited to see what else he has in store.
